Alright, after blogging about who should NOT be He-Man yesterday, I decided to finally go through a list of possible contenders. There are a variety of actors who already have the look.  Some have the acting ability but don't really have the look. In some cases all you'd need is blonde hair instead of brown hair.  Maybe some hair extensions, too. First, a few more who we can rule out: Mark Wahlberg? - too old to be a young He-Man ... good physique, but doesn't have the right presence to portray He-man Orlando Bloom? - doesn't have the physique or the presence to play the hero to the Universe Josh Duhamel? - pretty much the same as Wahlberg except with a less impressive physique Ashton Kutcher? - no. He's comedy. He's more of a TV actor. I don't think he'd do well in this role at all Before we talk about possibilities, we have to talk about which version of He-Man we're talking about. It's been a while since I tackled the casting for the upcoming He-Man / Masters of the Universe movie. Turns out that Sony is not pursuing the movie anymore.  Mattel announced their own film division in the past couple of weeks. So, it's still possible a He-Man movie gets made.  In fact, maybe the Mattel film division would put more focus on the movie. I'm somewhat happy about this because Sony seems like a cluster --- to put it mildly. I'm hoping Mattel is a little more organized and can help get a He-Man movie made, regardless of which studio it ends up working with. Assuming a He-Man movie does still happen, today, I present you with something a little different. Alright, I figured I'd better finish my series of blogs on potential casting choices for the upcoming He-Man movie before the movie is actually out! So, jumping back onto the saddle, let's talk Skeletor. He's one of the most important choices in this movie. Maybe even more important than He-Man. Christian Bale was a good Batman. Almost everyone can agree on that. But I've never met anyone who doesn't think Heath Ledger was an amazing Joker. That's the way I see it with Skeletor. He's He-Man's arch-rival. He's the villainous part of the story. Every good story needs a good villain and, in this one, Skeletor is it. If the movie's decision-makers choose wisely, it could take the movie up another notch. Who to choose? So if the new He-Man movie is anything like some of the Masters of the Universe comics, we may see some She-Ra characters show up (or at least be set up for future appearances in sequels) in Sony's new MOTU movie. If there are any She-Ra characters who show up, here's who I'd like to see cast: Michael Cera as Mantenna It's been a while since Michael Cera was in anything that made pop culture waves, but he's got some decent roles Vin Diesel as Leech I am Groot.  That's usually what Vin Diesel says on the big screen these days.  In the Masters of the Universe series, he could be Leech.  I'd like to see a more menacing Leech than in the animated series. Vin Diesel has the physical attributes to make that happen. Put some make up and molding on his face.  Throw in some special effects and you've got a perfect candidate for this Horde villain . It's been a while since I did one of my He-Man casting blogs, but with the very exciting news that Sony has chosen a December 2019 release date for their Masters of the Universe movie, I figured I'd better pick this back up and finish it up. I've covered most of the main characters in my previous blogs, but the great thing about He-Man is that there are a slew of great side characters as well. With each new character, Matel had a new toy to make and sell. But that also gave the writers another character to explore and do something with. Here are my casting suggestions for some of the remaining characters: Andrew Garfield as Mekaneck Unfortunately Andrew Garfield wasn't kept on as Spidey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he's a good actor and he'd be a great addition to the He-Man movie.
