The 10 Friendliest and Meanest Aliens

Happy National Alien Abduction Day! Strangely enough, March 20 is known as alien abduction day. To celebrate, I present to you the friendliest and least friendly aliens from entertainment history. I made the list for IMDB , which I recently joined. I always used it to look up information, but I never realized that it’s actually a pretty fun website too. You can give movies ratings, make lists that rank movies and characters, and write movie reviews. It's not as addicting as FarmVille, but I've spent a few hours on it already. Here’s a look at the top five aliens from each of my lists. 5. 3rd Rock from the Sun aliens They came to Earth to study it. To do this, they took human form. Over the course of their mission they realized the pitfalls and the positives of being human. Once the mission was completed, they left. It seemed like they'd be singing the praises of the planet in their future travels. Granted, there were several points when the Big Giant He...

Prometheus - reviewed.

All I knew about Prometheus was that it was some kind of space adventure movie – most likely involving alien life forms of some kind. I didn’t know, until the last scene, that it was a prequel, of sorts, to the Alien movies. Maybe if I’d known that ahead of time I would have enjoyed Prometheus better than I did. Or, maybe not. I’d put a spoiler alert here, but there’s really nothing worth spoiling, so I won’t bother. It peaked my interest at the start, when an albino human-like being is shown next to a large waterfall. While a ship seems to be taking off into the atmosphere, he takes a sip of something out of a canister and it changes his molecular structure. He falls into the waterfall and then decomposes in the water. All right, so who’s the guy? What did he drink? Why did he decompose? I’m interested in finding out what happened. We go to a scene in Ireland, as two scientists find a cave marking – the same as what are apparently in several other places on Eart...

Battleship - reviewed.

Don’t you just hate those dry periods for movie releases? It seems like it happens a few times a year when there’s no movies you anxiously want to see. That’s how it was the other day when I made a stop by the Redbox . The Avengers DVD came out last week , but I already saw that in the theatres. I spent a few minutes browsing through the selection of movies, but was having trouble finding something. Some of them didn’t even sound that bad, but they were all on the same level, so it was tough making a choice. When you’re in the mood to see a good movie, you don’t want to spend two hours watching something, only to find out that it’s a dud. For lack of better options, I went with Battleship . I heard that it bombed in a big way at the theatres , but I remembered seeing previews and thinking it could be decent. I was surprised to see that Gambit was in the movie. I didn’t know the actor’s name, so I Googled him. Turns out his name is Taylor Kitsch – a Canadian model-t...
