I'm a huge fan of He-Man.  I should've done this a long time ago, but, with the Masters of the Universe movie progressing (seemingly), I figured it was time to do my own dream casting. I've seen every episode of He-Man (even the dull ones that didn't include Skeletor) and read the mini-comics and the books.  I'm pretty much a fanatic.  At one point I owned all of the toys.  I still own a dozen or so action figures along with Battle Cat (and a lunch box) because I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them. Given how big of a fan I am, I really want the new MOTU movie to be incredible.  I'm hoping for Transformers-level success.  We'll take it one movie at a time though, right?  That is, assuming there is even a sequel. In order for there to be a sequel, we need a good cast.  A good script, of course, would be helpful, too. Let's start with the casting of  Teela . Seth Rogen as Cookie Monster It's been about a year since I posted part one. I figured it was about time for a follow up. Okay, so technically Cookie Monster isn’t a cartoon character. He’s a puppet – or is it mupppet? Either way, if Sesame Street was to be brought to life on a Broadway stage with the assitance of blue makeup and fake blue fur, Seth Rogen would get the part. I don’t even know if Seth Rogen can sing, but he’d still get the part. Rogen is Cookie Monster’s human look-a-like. There really should be some kind of commercial that pairs the two of them together. There were a few things that were learned over the course of the last 12 months. Here are the most important things: If you want a successful movie at the box office, put The Rock in it . The man was the highest grossing actor of the year (even beating out Robert Downey Jr.). Batman is the best super hero of all time . They wouldn’t even let him rest in peace. The Dark Knight trilogy just ended and they're already planning more movies with a new Batman. Even Spider-Man got three years before they rebooted his franchise. Billy Ray Cyrus is not the father of the year . Watch the Mtv Video Music Awards to see proof of that. The Carolina Panthers can be a legitimate team . They've had the best season in over a decade. Super Bowl chances?? We'll see. One thing is for sure: it's Cam Newton's best season yet.

I was on vacation last week and for a change I thankfully (or maybe not?) had Netflix access. I was addicted to it for most of the last week, watching Greedy (not Michael Fox's best film), Pretty Ugly People (which got a deserving low score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes ), and Hart of Dixie (a review of that show to come at a later date...). While watching Hart of Dixie I couldn't help but notice a couple of instances of celebrity look-a-likes. For most of the first episode of the hour-long drama, I was convinced that Lemon Breeland was played by Emma Stone. If Emma hadn’t dyed her hair and played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man , I wouldn’t have given it a second though. When The Amazing Spider-Man was first released in the early part of July, it wasn't on my list of movies to see in the theatre. I'd just seen The Avengers in May and The Dark Knight Rises , which was on my must-see list, was going to be released just a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, the new version of Spider-Man was the summer super hero flick that didn't fit into my checkbook. That changed last Tuesday though. I was trying to figure out what to do with my evening. I noticed that Cinemark 10 , in Matthews, was showing The Amazing Spider-Man. I'd never been to Cinemark 10, but it was the cheap theatre, from what I'd heard. I figured watching Spider-Man on the big screen would probably be more fun than watching the DVD on my 20" Vizio television at home. I got to the theatre and it was pretty much deserted. I finally watched The Help . When my 29-year-old male cousin, who doesn't like anything close to a romantic comedy, is recommending the movie, then I guess it’s high time I watch it. I didn’t know much about the plot going into the movie. Actually, I suppose I should have connected the dots. A story about the help, featuring two black women and a writer in the South? I definitely should’ve realized ahead of time that this movie was set in the 1960s and would cover a few race issues. I didn’t though. That’s usually the way I like to watch movies – without knowing the main story line. I like to be enticed enough by the preview to want to watch it, but, beyond that, let the movie tell the story. I hate those previews that give away the entire movie. What’s the point in watching the actual movie at that point? Anyway, back to The Help. I remember the previews looking pretty decent.
