Daredevil, Season 1 – reviewed.

I reviewed season one of Arrow a couple of months ago.   Well, today, it’s Daredevil – the Netflix original series. I watched the pilot episode about sometime last Thanksgiving, but it took a while for me to finish up the remaining 12 episodes. I wasn’t blown away by lead actor Charlie Cox.   As of that pilot episode, I liked Ben Affleck’s portrayal better.   I know, I know .    Affleck’s version of Daredevil is considered one of the worst super hero movies there is, but I always kind of liked it.  It wasn’t incredible-amazing-spectacular, but it was good. Meanwhile, whenever Foggy Nelson was on-screen I couldn’t figure out who he reminded me of.   It was distracting me from the show.   Well, Foggy Nelson (Daredevil’s law firm partner) is played by Eldon Henson.   Thanks to IMDB, I realized he was in The Hunger Games , The Mighty Ducks and She’s All That . I also couldn’t figure out if I liked Deborah Ann Woll, who plays secret...

RIP Chyna

I haven’t posted to this blog for a while, but I wanted to say something about Chyna after hearing the news about her death this past week. Besides super heroes and comic books, I am a big fan of professional wrestling. I started watching wrestling in 1997, when a lot of the wrestlers became real-life super heroes to me. Characters like The Undertaker, Mankind, Goldust, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were all incredibly entertaining to watch. They had amazing entrances and awesome outfits, they battled each other and they did it in front of rowdy fans every week. All of those guys were incredible to watch! It was great for me because I was at the age where I'd grown past cartoons like He-Man and X-Men (at least on a regular basis), but I wasn't interested in adult shows like Law & Order or Friends or The Practice . Dozens of big-screen comic book movies weren't being made at that point, so there wasn't a happy medium until I found pro wrestling. It invo...

Arrow, Season 1 - reviewed.

I finally jumped on the super heroes on TV bandwagon.   I’ve been watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for 2 seasons (I still need to catch up on season 3), but I hadn’t been watching any of the other series on the small screen.   There’s Gotham , The Flash , Agent Carter , D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow , and, now, CBS’ Supergirl .  That's not counting Netflix's Daredevil and Jessica Jones (I watched both of those over the Christmas holiday, so expect blogs on both coming soon as well). Last Black Friday, I decided to give Arrow a shot.   I could’ve just watched it on Netflix, but, the beauty of Black Friday are those nice DVD sales.   Series like Gotham , The Flash and Arrow were all on sale for $10 each, as opposed to the usual $15 - $40 range. Finally, I had some time to watch the first season of Arrow . As much as I like super heroes, I’m not familiar with the Green Arrow character and his backstory, so this was kind of like a fresh, n...
