Fun Charlotte Street Signs

I blogged before about some of the crazy intersections you'll find when driving around Charlotte.

It's not just the design of some intersections that make you LOL though. Take Statesville Road. Or is it Statesville Ave.?

Well, it depends on where you're at.

Statesville Avenue changes into Statesville Road as you cross over I-85. What is the purpose of this name change? I have no idea.

Maybe there's some method behind the madness that the Charlotte City Planning Department understands.

Being able to choose street names gives you the chance to confuse people sometimes. Other times, it gives you a chance to get creative. Take a look at some of these names:

If you've got to go someplace, Ideal Way may be the way to go.

This one is a little south of Charlotte, in Union County.

As you can see, they went with a theme in that neighborhood.

In that same neighborhood, there's a groupings of streets that seem to have divine influence.

Other street names include: Guardian Angel Ave., Good Life Lane, and Blessing Drive.

I like the idea of themed street names in neighborhoods.

The heavenly-inspired street names in Indian Trail were nice.

My favorite 'themed' streets, however, can be found in Huntersville, NC: the alleys.

As you can see, they've come up with multiple creative ways to incorporate the word 'alley' into their street names.

Which one is your favorite?

  1. Street Signage Perth is so much useful for a modern city. People have not that much time to spend on the road. They have to reach earlier at their destination. So this type of signs is so much beneficial for the people.

Celebrity (look-a-like) sightings - part 3

Part 1 and Part 2 were good, but I think there's some definite look-a-likes this time around. I'll get right to the comparisons, but let me know what you think? Am I spot on or what? I saved the very best (and closest comparison) for last this time, so make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page. On the left: Edge On the right: Jamie Campbell Bower May as well start with a wrestling-related one. It seems those pro wrestlers have doppelgängers all over. I'd mentioned before that Wilson Bethel resembles Edge . I still stand by that statement. However, I think Jamie Campbell Bower looks even more like Edge. Jamie Bower, for those who are unaware like I was, is an actor who has quite an impressive resume already. I just watched The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (review to come later) and that's the first time I saw him...or so I thought. Jamie was in the final three Twilight movies, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2 , and t...

Choosing a side on DVD menu's -- what's the point?

Most DVDs go to a menu screen after you’re done hearing about ‘the cloud,’ how cigarettes can kill you and seeing a preview for the latest animated film. Some, however, give you an option. ‘Pick a side,’ they say. I’ve run into this twice recently – with the G.I. Joe DVD and The Break-Up DVD . At first I thought it was a cool concept. Maybe, if you pick Cobra’s side, there’s an alternate ending? Or maybe some special features --- like an in-depth look at Storm Shadow’s sword training. If you pick the side of the Joe’s, maybe there’s a look at their stunt training. No, no, and no. I went with Cobra and it takes you to the exact same screen, with the exact same features, as it does when you pick G.I. Joe. Same thing with The Break-Up .

13 Body Swap Movies

In honor of Friday the 13th, I figured we'd count down some of the best body switch movies. There's still time left in the day for this to happen to you, so don't wish on any shooting stars, be careful if you're making a birthday wish, don't throw coins (or peeing, for that matter) into any fountains and avoid any kind of voodoo magic men. You may also want to avoid Aztec statues, necklaces and magic dust. Otherwise you may end up like some of the people on this list: 13. The Change-Up Number 13 is the most recent body swap movie. Released in 2011, the movie is about two men who switch bodies after being struck by lightning while peeing into a fountain. The result? They swap bodies. Dave (Jason Bateman) is stuck in Mitch's body. Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) is stuck in Dave's body. At the beginning of the movie the two are envious of each other's lifestyles. By the end of the movie they've grown as human beings and appreciate where they are...
